Our Philosophy
With decades of combined experience in the premium vintage collectible automobile niche, we at RNR have come to believe that a restoration is more than just a refurbishment of a car in need. As one of the few attributes of a classic vehicle that remains entirely under the owner’s control, a restoration is a unique opportunity to bolster a car’s provenance and overall value.
While elements of provenance such as ownership history, racing pedigree, and brushes with celebrity are defined as past events beyond a collector’s influence, the quality and approach of a car’s restoration, and its subsequent exhibition career, are two components of provenance that remain firmly within an owner’s grasp.
At RNR we believe that a quality restoration includes far more than a nice paint job and a properly rebuilt engine, yet we cautiously strive to never “over-restore” a car. As auction sales prices and concours d’elegance results have proven, a successful restoration relies on an adherence to factory-original parts and standards, including not only components, materials, and colors, but correctness of finishes and surfaces, among other myriad details. Furthermore, transparent and comprehensive invoicing accompanied by photo-documentation is a necessity to create a permanent record of a car’s journey to renewal.
RNR not only embodies the above standards, but we actively seek to prove the quality of our restorations by assisting with application and logistics management at finer concours d’elegance. By assembling a string of strong concours performances, a collector can actively improve an automobile’s provenance, and in doing so strengthen the car’s eventual command of the marketplace. We attempt to help our clients at every step of the way with their cars, from acquisition and formulation of planning, to disassembly and rebuild (be it sympathetic or ground-up), through exhibition and potential market realization.
